a bit "fra - jeee - lay"

ok. these work. but...just a little bit of rough service (and by rough, I mean carrying them along on a trip in a bag) will result in the panels separating from one another (solar panel front and plastic back, creating gap which causes big problems because of the spring loaded connectors). oh sure - try to take them apart with a jewelry screwdriver to "fix" it. You will find that the plastic anchors will break. and now you need another one.as long as they don't separate, they work great. I would say - they are worth buying one or two, but just keep in mind - treat them as if they are faberge' eggs....

Definite Need for the the XL

Pros:1) Simple2) Works3) Drastically improved charging time4) Enable getting full 4 bars on the XL on only solar5) Tiny LED indicatorCons:1) Price2) Should be included with the XLThe ReStore XL claims to full charge from empty in 11 hours but I was never able to get it to 4 bars even after leaving it in full sunlight for at least 8 hours a day for 4 days. I plan to use this on my bike touring trip so I decided I needed to get the extra panels. So far they work wonders on the XL. I was able to full charge from 1 bar to 4 bars in about 3.5 hours of sunlight. I also like the testing button as well as the tiny LED that indicates when the panels are putting out power. It would flicker when place in the sun.Installation was easy and because of the way it is designed, it folds nicely into a compact case for easy storage.I highly recommend this if you have the XL and having trouble getting to 4 bars on the panels itself.

Decent but not great build quality

I got the 2 add on pack for my ReStore XL. I spent a day up in Lambeau Field with my son, and kept having to fire up the car once in a while to recharge things (2 ipads, 2 iphones) during the tailgating. I wanted more options, so started looking around Amazon, and went with the XL.These were a good price to get three times the speed on recharging when I'm out and about, and they hook up really easily. Spring loaded hooks hold them to each other, and it comes with the piece to connect them to the XL, although the XL came with one as well.Checking the connections is easy, just get it in sunlight and start charging, and there's a test button to press on the adapter that goes between the charger and these panels, and it turns a little light on each panel on when they've got a connection.My problem was the build quality. The plastic is very fragile - one of them came already cracked where the metal hook would slip in, so I just ended up putting that one on the "outside" where nothing would have to hook up to it. But that means I need to be careful when using them - any other cracks, and I won't be able to use at least one of them.Charging time has improved drastically, so while I haven't done any timed tests with and without, it was definitely worth it for me.

I: Cells: 36 pcs fully tabbed cells plus bonus cells

IV: Flux: an easy-to-use flux pen that dispenses flux onto the bus bar or your tabbing wires without leaving a mess. It's used to aid soldering and bonding of the wires to the cells. A must have item.


V: Diodes: 1 diode rated at 15 amp. Schottky style diodes.


VI: Lead free silver solder: 1 tube of lead free silver solder. The wires are already coated with tin solder, but we are including extra solder for you which comes in handy.

Horrendous customer service and unreliable product

Horrendous customer service and unreliable productI have had nothing but problems with this inverter. It is completely unreliable. The OST is continually tripping the unit, which causes the AC to turn off and everything attached to it. After months of the unit tripping, it finally permanently failed, error code 529, and almost caught my camper on fire. It took weeks to get the smell out. I'm a seasoned electrical engineer with many years of power supply design experience, so I know the unit was installed correctly with very heavy wires, and located closed to four 125Ahr batteries in a clean, dry and well-ventilated area.After sending over five emails to customer service, I finally received a response after threatening to write a bad review on the internet. They instructed me to send the unit back to NY, and they would look at it. I know it was delivered through a tracking number, but after numerous emails, I still have not received even an acknowledgment that they received the unit...very frustrating to say the least.My 2 cents...buy from a more reputable company with customer service. You may need to spend twice the money, but it is worth every penny to get something that you can install, forget and enjoy for many years.

Good price but unreliable and no auto-resume on alarms

** UPDATE **: The 2nd unit fried as well. Big smoke came out of it, hopefully nothing was hooked to it when this happened. It looks like a very unreliable product.If you are looking for a 2500W true sine wave power inverter, this is probably the cheapest and it will do a decent job as long as you don't have appliances that require a big peak wattage for starting a motor.The main annoying feature is that if your input voltage gets too high (>14.5V) or too low (<11.5V), the unit will get into alarm mode and keep beeping until you power cycle it. The unit never resumes automatically when the voltage comes back to normal.If you have wind turbines, they typically output 14.7V on wind gusts and the unit will constantly go into alarm during storms. You then have to constantly turn the unit off and on to get it back online.The remote just does not work if the unit went into alarm mode which makes it pretty much useless.Also the first unit I got fried during the first week. I have been running the new unit for about 6 months (connected to solar panels and wind turbines) and it still works (despite the alarm problem).

Don't waste your money...!

Purchased at the end of 2011 for use in my motorhome. Connected to battery bank of 480 amp hours with appropriate size wire, wire lengths, and fuses. Worked fine the first three trips (a total time of about three weeks) using it only during the evenings to watch a couple of hours of tv every few nights. This last trip I turned it on to let the kids watch some tv while heading to our destination and found that it's output was running between 137 and 160 volts instead of the 120 it is designed for. The voltage burned up a portable tool battery charger. Thankfully the tv is okay. Was going to contact Sunforce, but have read enough negative customer service (or the lack of it) comments, that I think I'll just forego the stress, learn the lesson, and not buy anymore Chinese junk. Going out to buy a real inverter from a stick and brick store.

Very good economy inverter

Purchased this for running a few low power items when the utility power is out. Very impressed with the build quality of this unit. It does provide the rated 300 watts without overheating or shutting down as long as adequate ventilation is provided, these do generate heat that must be dissipated. No complaints here considering the cost.

Ok for the money

I purchased this inverter thinking it would be at least ok compared to the true sine wave model. Truth is it's not even close. It did, however meet my needs as a backup unit.It was able to deal with a 200W light load, but anything over that and it struggled. It will also run a very small motor, like a coffee grinder. It is also much smaller than described. I was pretty surprised when I opened the box. Actual size is 5.75 x 1.75 x 3.5" In conclusion, it's adequate for light tasks and worth it's bargain price. If you need a real and clean 300W, go for the true sine wave unit

Nice batteries, cycling shows 2400mAH

I've used these a few cycles now and tested them with the Lacrosse BC-700 Battery Charger (great charger by the way). Mine cycle with about 2400mAH. I've used these in the Guide10Plus, flashlights, a GPS and portable 2-way radios (Kenwood and Yaesu Ham radios). The batteries have worked well in each of these systems.I'll keep them in rotation with my Eneloop batteries and see how they go. The Eneloops hold slightly less (2100mAH) but have a very long shelf life and an impressive number of duty cycles. With a few months of use on these batteries they are currently holding up well.
