Did not work out of the box - Replacement works fine

This regulator looks well constructed and the instructions were clear. However, it did not work at all.This regulator has 3 indicator lights. One lights when it detects a voltage from the solar panel. The 2nd indicates the charge level of your battery. Green for fully charged, red for less then fully charged and a flashing red for a dead battery.This charger also supports a separate load other the the battery. It has it own set of terminals and a timer circuit that allows you to have it shut the load off after a determined period of time.My problem is that the unit I received did not work at all. With the solar panel attached the indicator light would not light and it was obvious that no current was flowing as the solar panel open circuit voltage was measured at the regulator terminals. With the battery attached and measuring 12.7 volts the battery indicator light just flashed as though the battery was dead. It was also impossible to turn on the load circuit.I've requested a return authorization from Amazon and am anxious to see how that works as this is the first item I've ever ordered from Amazon that didn't work. UPDATE - Newgate replaced this regulator promptly and it now works according to all their specifications. The customer service from Newgate has been superb.

Solar charge controllers keep your batteries safe. A solar charge controller is required for any solar array of 12-Watt or higher. Solar panels are unregulated and can have a-voltage higher than necessary to charge 12-volt batteries. The Nature Power 28-Amp Solar Digital PWM Charge Controller will prevent overcharging of batteries by regulating the-voltage from a 12-volt solar panel to a safe level for charging 12-volt batteries. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control provides higher charging efficiency and maintains a higher battery reserve than standard on/off controllers. Designed for use with 12-volt solar panels this solar charge controller is safe for use with up to 28-amp or 450-Watt from a solar array. This controller will also prevent over discharge of your battery as well as protect from high-voltage surges, short circuit and loss of power through the solar panel at night. A digital LCD screen displays charging current, load current, and battery-voltage in 5 second intervals. Two LED lights display charge function and battery status. A load terminal on the solar charge controller let you dedicate one item to run through the controller, when the batteries reach critical-voltage the load will be automatically turned off to prevent a dead battery and allow the solar panel to recharge the battery before the load turns on again. This feature helps to prolong the life of your battery. This charge controller may also be used with 24-volt solar panels and batteries. The charge controller is self-adjusting and will automatically set the charge cycle. You can connect multiple solar panels up to one controller so long as you do not exceed 450-Watt or 28-amp. The charge controller is meant to be permanently connected to the battery and the solar array even when you are drawing power from the battery. Solar charge controllers should installed close to the battery in a dry and ventilated area. This solar charge controller is covered by a 1 year manufacturers warranty.

Uncontrolled charging, inaccurate controller

I was looking forward to the metering features and settings flexibility on this charge controller, but it was a big disappointment. Its critical failure is in the basic charge control function. I might as well have connected the solar panel directly to the battery - the controller was always charging at full panel output regardless of the battery voltage.I tried lowering the cut off voltage to 13 volts to see if would ever shut off, but it still stayed in bulk charge mode no matter how I set or reset the configuration. I also found the meters to be very inaccurate, off by 1/2 to 1 amp (verified with an external meter).While researching these problems I noticed that this a US labeled Chinese "Wellsee" charge controller, sold under several other names with slightly modified cases.

This item is both cheap and dangerous. I say dangerous because the display lies. It said it was not delivering any amperage to my batteries, but a clamp on meter clearly showed it delivering all available amps from my panels, thus sending the battery to over voltage and gassing. The voltage measured at the battery spiked over 16V even though the charger was set to cut off at 13.7V. Stay away from this one.

Gone Solar - and glad I did!

I've wanted to go solar with my rv for several years. I've gotten estimates, gone back and forth over what I needed, etc. My rv is small, but my goal was big - to hopefully not ever need my generator. Well, with this system and adding a 2nd solar panel (and 3 more aux batteries) I've done it. I actually had my generator taken out and this system installed. Because I removed the generator, the system was installed through it's connections and I didn't need the controller included. Made installation a tad easier. It's only been a week, but I've been using solar only - and only had one sunny day. The overcast/cloudy days have still recharged the batteries (and I've needed to run my heat every night) and during the sunny day I put things to a test - vacuuming, etc - and it kept up with me.I can run my microwave, but that's really pulling the charges - so don't intend to while boondocking (I never used the ac when boondocking before, so that's not a loss). I also added another 12 volt connection off the inverter to allow me to do some things (like charge my phone/computer/camera batteries, etc) without pulling as much as the inverter does. Used that every day it was cloudy.I'm very impressed and wish I'd done this a couple years ago. Better late than never!Things to consider - the 1500 watt inverter included is strong - if you only have 1 or 2 batteries, you'll need to add a couple if you want to take advantage of this. You'd be able to drain 1 or 2 batteries quickly if you used the power the inverter provides. I went to 4 batteries, and have room for 2 more if wanted. The controller, since I didn't install it, I can't comment on. I also didn't install the remote - as my rig is so small that there is no need for it.This is still so new to me - will update if things change/occur that should be mentioned.

Great system

We bought the Go Power Weekender solar and inverter package, so we could keep the batteries charged on the RV, and also have the ability to run the TV at night as well as the microwave without running our generator. The kit came with everything we needed to install the solar panel and the 1500 watt inverter including a 30 amp transfer switch. This was actually a very nice addition because it makes it so when the inverter is on, all of the outlets in the RV still work just like when we are plugged in at an RV park. The solar has kept the 2 6 volt batteries that we have on the RV topped up even on fairly cloudy days. We may need to add another panel down the road for the trips over a week but for now we have found the system has been perfect. I would recommend this system for anyone that wants a complete plug and play solar and inverter system. Once it was installed we have not really had a need for the generator unless we are using the Air Conditioner a lot. The system has definitely been one of the best things we have bought for our RV.

Go Power Equipment is Good Equipment

So I saw a review with 1 star based off of Go-Powers installation, not the actual product.It appears that the consumer under calculated the amount of battery bank storage needed and the amount of panels needed to meet the requirements for consumption.I have dealt with this product and installed this product with no complaints. It is important as consumers to know your demand of power consumption and calculate your system size based off those calculations. This is a good product that recieved a bad review based off of a consumers ignorance.

I mounted this chock in my trailer and makes loading my bike by myself a snap! Just up into the chock, get off the bike, the front tire is suspended in the cradle and I have Honda VTX 1800 that's close to 800lbs. I highly recommend this Wheel Chock to anyone with a large touring or cruiser type motorcycle especially with wide front tires.
