tripod does not work

Ordered tripod to go with my Extream 350 kit. It arrived with no instructions but was easy enough to figure out. The Base that the panels are supposed to mount to has an oblong circle where it is supposed to attach to the base and WILL NOT attach. It appeared that the hole was machined incorrectly. I contacted GoalZero and had them swap out the part that not working. After shipping the item back to them I had to contact them after several weeks of hearing nothing back from them to get them to replace the part. Upon receiving the new part it was almost identical to the one that I sent in originally and did not work. The problem appears to be with production (assuming they did in fact send me a new part). I WOULD NOT but this again and I strongly suggest that others stay clear of this item.Not only does the part not work GoalZero has no real customer support and does not appear to be interested in fixing the problem.

Purchased the tripod, and am now awaiting my 3rd replacement. The Brass screw that mates the tripod to the base that the panels attach to will not thread together.I called and Goal Zero said they had a manufacturing problem and had to have their inventory re threaded, however some distributors had yet to replace their old inventory and I must have received one of those older items. They said I should get a replacement within one week, one week turned into two....when i called back they said they had not shipped a replacement and that there was not a problem with the device. When I brought up what they had mentioned previously, they said they had misspoke and there was nothing wrong with the units...The support provided by Goal Zero is absolutely horrific. Getting them to take ownership is difficult, and they are not interested in resolving quickly. They told me that there was not a problem with the tripod, and it was just hard to screw in place. 6'2" @ 250lbs with a wrench and I could not get it to thread...they said there was nothing wrong (again without seeing) and refused to send a replacement.The idea for the product is necessary, specifically if you purchased more than one Goal Zero solar panels, as I had. The quality of the product is fine with the exception of the two pieces that thread together. For items that are advertised as portable and to be used in the field, the quality is really bad, and the support is some of the worst I've ever experienced.

Back to the Drawing Board!!

The Tripod comes in two parts: The (lower tripod) and (T' Section for mounting 4 solar panels)!1st - The Big Thumb Bolt on the lower Tripod is NOT a Stable design, and seems to be Miss Threaded so it will not thread all the way into the T' Section! making me afraid to put my solar panels on there.2nd - The solar panels mounting holes don't match up perfectly with the mounting holes of the T' Section. I accidentally broke two Solar Panel Clips trying to mount.My idea is:1) replace the flopping piece of metal that is holding the big bolt, with a 3 point Triangle bracket!2) Use Bolts and wing nuts instead of the breakable clips, (File & or Drill the T' Section at your own risk!)3) A better bolt may be found at your local hardware store, might take the T' section in with you for a perfect match.Good Luck!
