Expected motion, got sound activated instead

I guess I should have read the description better but I expected motion sensing lights instead of these sound activated ones. And it does take quite a bit of sound to activate them like a hand clap or loud thud. I installed these by the gates and the latch sound does not activate them. I have since replaced them with motion activated lights. I wanted to return these for a refund but that required my paying for return shipping which wasn't worth it.
