I've only just received this, so I've been testing it out at home. So far, it appears to be working as advertised.Out of the box, it took the advertised 4 hours to charge the sync battery from an AC wall outlet. Following that, I've charged my HTC Droid Eris Android phone twice over two days, and the sync controller still indicates 75%-100% charge remaining. Extrapolating this leads me to believe that I'll get at least 8 phone charges from one sync charge, which is more than what is advertised. I suppose results vary among the devices you charge.The unit seems durable enough for camping and backpacking (the reasons I purchased it), but time will tell.I'm giving it 4 stars because I was surprised by a statement on the packaging that indicates the unit will last about 500 sync battery charges. This limitation was not included in any description I read online anywhere.Overall, I think it will serve my needs perfectly.** Update: After a full cycle (draining the sync battery completely), I've managed 7 full smartphone charges, which is one shy of my guess, but still better than advertised.
